Kolkata: The world's first-ever sparkling vodka --'O2 Sparkling Vodka'--made by London-based
International English Distillers entered the Indian market with its launch in Kolkata recently.

Eying the luxury liquor segment, which is growing by 30-40 per cent annually, Mumbai-based firm Acme Consultants has brought the drink to the country, the company's CEO Sudip Majumdar said here.

The company expects a turnover of Rs 10 crore in the next 12 months.

"India is the first country in the whole of Asia where we have launched this premium vodka. Targeting a turnover of Rs 10 crore this calendar year, we expect to sell over 600 cases annually capturing about 10 per cent of the luxury vodka market," Majumdar said.

Acme Consultants has tied up with Parsan Brothers, which is among the largest importers and distributors of foreign liquor in the eastern region, to bring at least five new foreign brands into the country next year.

The sparkling vodka is a blend of wheat, malted barley and charcoal filtered English Spring Water distilled and filtered three times in hundred year old copper pot stills for a smooth and pure taste.

The exact process of manufacturing the vodka is, however, protected by a patent.
