101 congrats to our CWG champions: Sachin Tendulkar
New Delhi: As India surpassed all expectations to finish 2nd in the medals tally of the 19th Commonwealth Games, the people who brought us the glory, the medal winners, got a thumbs up from many celebs and sport stars. India got its highest medal count of 101 in total and 38 Gold medals in the Games. (Read: India's journey from 1 to 101 medals)

Master BlasterSachin Tendulkartweeted congratulations to the winners.

"101 congratulations to all our CWG champions. Your hard work & various sacrifices have brought laurels to our nation. U make us proud!!!," he wrote.

Praising the sportspersons' diligent efforts in his blog, a proud Big B said bagging the second spot is no mean achievement.  "Tonight as we watch the closing of the Commonwealth Games, we cannot but admire the immense thrust forward that this nation has taken. To come out victorious in the 2nd position among all the Commonwealth Countries, is no mean achievement. And I would wish to congratulate all those, that diligently worked in getting this impression on our athletes thrust forward, that India has come into its own. That seeing the joy of victory and achievement among our own is the most wondrous site ever."

"Well done India !! May you move forward with similar grit and strength, to greater heights, higher achievements and unmistakable presence. Sport has become our instigator for greater value and presence. It has given us a distinct and respectable identity, one that had not been so forthcoming ever," he added.

Besides the sports persons, the pulsating atmosphere of the dazzling closing ceremony was also praised by the Twitterati. (Watch: The Grand Finale)

Actor Dia Mirza tweeted, "CWG closing was possibly the world's largest PARTY! Congratulations to all ATHLETES! The spirit of sport truly unifies n spreads love."

 Actor Madhavan added, "There is an unexplained sense of pride that I feel as I watch the closing of the CWG. Can't wait for the kids to form the flag.  Vande Mataram brought tears to my eyes during CWG. Want to hug somebody."

Some like actor Rahul Bose said that "From all accounts, the closing ceremony seems to have made up for the lack of Bollywood in the opening."

And then there were those like Actor Gulpanag and former minister Shashi Tharoor, who praised the security personnel for the hassle-free Games.

"Real credit for CWG should go to invisible layer of security for pulling off an incident-free event after all the threats," Tharoor tweeted.

"Whatay closing ceremony!! Major security. Major. No private cars allowed. Caught the fancy red bus from Ashoka ( thanks to my accreditation). Now en route to stadium for cwg closing . In a fancy red bus," Gul Panag wrote.
