ACGA reiterates commitment to CWG

ACGA reiterates commitment to CWG
New Delhi: The Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA) on Monday said it remains committed to the next month's New Delhi Games despite an attack on a tourist bus in the host city.

The shooting incident in which two Taiwanese were injured, happened on Sunday outside the historic Jama Masjid.

The attack prompted Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs to issue a travel warning to its citizens, saying there was a high risk of a terror strike during the Games.
.
ACGA chief executive Perry Crosswhite though said they are satisfied with the security arrangements for the October 3-14 sporting extravaganza.

"The shooting should not give rise to an increased level of concern. At the moment, we do not see a need to change our planning which continues to maintain a high level of security awareness," Crosswhite said'.

"The ACGA remains of the view that there is an acceptable level of security being provided," he added.
