New Delhi:
Australian cyclist Shane Perkins was today disqualified for reckless riding, which resulted in an injury to South African cyclist Bernard Pierre Esterhuizen, in a dramatic second round Keirin race won by Malaysia's Josiah NG.
Esterhuizen, who had to stretchered off after bruising his shoulder, was later seen on the bay with bandaged shoulder.
"Scotland's Ross Edgar Pritchard came close to Esterhuizen who then bumped into Edgar, before Edgar fell on Esterhuizen. So, he was hurt pretty badly," an official at the venue said.
The official also added that Edgar was fined but would be racing in the next event.
Both Edgar and Perkins have qualified for the sprint event and will be participating in the finals.
