Concerned Kalmadi wants name to be cleared
Pune: Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, who has been facing allegations of financial mismanagement in the run-up to the Delhi event, on Thursday said he was "concerned" about his image as a sport administrator.

"I am concerned. I want my name to be cleared and I am ready to face any inquiry," Kalmadi said when asked whether the recent controversies surrounding the conduct of the mega sport event had tainted his image as a sport administrator and Congress MP from the city.

Kalmadi, however, assured that he will deliver a great Games and "will make Pune proud".

Kalmadi also faced queries about heavy police presence at 'Meet the Press' organised by Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh with cops in civil dresses sharing the seats in the hall with the journalists and a large number of policemen standing outside the entry points.

"I do not need any police protection and I have not asked for it," said Kalmadi, who was accompanied by Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagve.
