CRPF revamping medical emergency services
New Delhi: The CRPF is in the process of revamping its medical emergency services and is looking at buying hi-tech ambulances which would also be deployed in Naxal affected areas.

The CRPF has already procured two such ambulances which will be used during the Commonwealth Games.

CRPF Director General Vikram Srivastava said more such ambulances would be bought.

The CRPF, which is providing nearly 5,000 security personnel including 300 commandos for the Commonwealth Games, on Friday flagged off the ambulances which will be subsequently be handed over to the Organising Committee of the Games.

The vehicles come fitted with all modern gadgets for medical care including centralised oxygen system. The ambulances will be placed at its Officers Training Academy in Kadarpur, where the shooting range for the Games is also located.

"The ambulances have been dedicated for Commonwealth Games. New ambulances would also be of this standard," Srivastava said.

Five medical officers and 25 paramedical staff have been deputed for the two ambulances. The personnel have undertaken a four-week training at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

Srivastava said they have already informed the Delhi police about the personnel needed for the Games, scheduled to begin on October 3.

The Delhi police will carry out a final security briefing for all paramilitary personnel next week soon after the lockdown of all venues begins, sources said.
