CWG: Angry ticket seekers protest outside OC office

New Delhi: Hundreds of angry ticket seekers chanted slogans against Organsing Committee (OC), forcing authorities to strengthen security arrangements at the OC headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

As the crowd build up late in the evening, armed policemen surrounded the main gate and denied entry to even accredited personnel into the building.

The crowd chanted slogans like 'OC Hai Hai' and even threw away the food packets.

The crowd, which included a host of volunteers, was angry that they were denied entry into the building to procure tickets for Thursday's closing ceremony.

There were scenes of scuffles and OC officials, who were coming out were being abused by the irate mob.

None of the top OC officials, including chairman Suresh Kalmadi, came to the office till late this evening.

Most of the OC officials were not reachable on their mobile and many who had to collect tickets for closing ceremony could not do so because the person assigned with the task did not turn up at all.

The demand for closing ceremony tickets have gone up very much after the spectacular opening ceremony on October 3.

The opening ceremony came for high praise by both the Indian and international media.

Those OC official inside the building left instructions to not let anyone enter the building in view of the situation which was threatening to go out of hands in the evening.
