New Delhi:
The Delhi Police has confirmed that all venues for the Commonwealth Games have been handed over to the police and are now in "security lockdown" mode.
The Army will also play a key role in keeping athletes and spectators safe.
The Army will provide ground-based air defence cover across Delhi in coordination with the Indian Air Force.
It will have 4 CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) decontamination teams on standby.
The Army will also provide long-range surveillance at night using night vision gadgets.
The Army's engineer regiment is on standby for any 'engineering emergencies' - it's already helping to rebuild the pedestrian over-bridge that collapsed earlier this month near Nehru Stadium.
