CWG: Fennell thanks Delhiites for adhering to Games lane sanctity
New Delhi: Delhiites on Wednesday came in for praise from Commonwealth Games Federation chief Mike Fennell for adhering to the sanctity of the exclusive lanes meant for Games traffic.

"I am very satisfied with the special lanes for Games traffic. It is working well. I want to complement and thank the general public of Delhi for their understanding," Fennell told a press conference.

To some people, he said, the Games lanes have been a "bit of nuisance" and it meant disruption of traffic for them.

"But people understood the importance of the Games and related traffic. I want to thank the driving public and pedestrian public for the success of the Games," Fennell said.

Delhi Traffic Police has so far challaned over 1,200 people for deliberately straying into the lanes. Violators had to shell out Rs 2,000 as fine.
