Delhi benefitted tremendously from CWG: Fennell
New Delhi: Delhi has "benefitted tremendously" by hosting the Commonwealth Games as it got an opportunity to improve city infrastructure, Games chief Mike Fennell said on Monday.

"You have to bear in mind that Delhi has not hosted a big event after 1982. This is a city of 17 millions and they seized the opportunity (to host the event)," Fennell told reporters.

He said Delhi had some "very very old" stadiums and they needed new ones.

"As the city has a 17 million population, the city badly needed good sports venues and they used this opportunity to get new stadiums. In addition to this, the city used this opportunity to improve its infrastructure and benefitted tremendously," Fennell said.
