Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit jives to CWG song
New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit appeared to be in her elements today as the 72-year-old shook a leg and sang Delhi's Commonwealth Games song 'Dilli Meri Jaan' with the Euphoria band at a function here.

Dikshit, who initially was hesitant to join the performers, sang the song passionately along with a group of students and teachers in the function at Sanskriti School.

CWG Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia and several other guests also joined Dikshit and the band led by Palash Sen. "I do not remember the lyrics of the song. So you will have to help me out," Dikshit told Sen before starting to sing. But later she sang the full song along with Sen and jived to the music.

"Ye sheher meri jaan, iska naam hai meri pehchaan, Meri saanson mein basaa, iss hava ka nashaa, Mera dil, mera pataa, meri shaan, Dilli hai meri jaan... Dilli hai meri jaan...(This city is my life, my identity, my pride...Its the air I breathe...Delhi my pride)," she sang.

The theme song 'Dilli Meri Jaan, Dilli Meri Shaan' was released last month by Delhi Government to create awareness and enthusiasm among the citizens about 12-day-long mega event beginning October 3. The lyrics of the song has been penned by Palash Sen and
Dahila Sen Oberoi.

Officials said the song is now being aired on FM channels and soon a video version will also be released. The song will also be available as ringtone and caller tune on mobiles.
