England hopeful of competing in Delhi

New Delhi: England team are "optimistic" they will compete in Commonwealth Games, but have said the athletes' village still requires urgent work.

Plumbing and electrical problems still exist ahead of the arrival of the first English athletes on Thursday.

The president of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CWG) Michael Fennell has shot off a missile missive to the Cabinet Secretary expressing great doubts about the preparedness of the Games Village where the athletes will be staying.

While, New Zealand team have warned that the event may be called off if the concerns regarding the Athletes Village are not addressed at the earliest.
