New Delhi:
Myroslav Dykun of England won the men's 66kg Greco-Roman wrestling gold medal at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday, pinning Jack Bond of Canada to the mat in the final.
It took Dykun just half of the first session to grapple his opponent to the floor, pinning him in a vice-like grip to stop the bout.
"We know he is a world class athlete and he performed above and beyond expectations on Wednesday," England team manager Shaun Morley said.
Ukrainian-born Dykun caused the biggest upset of the tournament so far when he defeated crowd favourite Sunil Kumar of India.
He brushed past Australia's Cory O'Brien with an easy win in the semis.
