New Delhi: Today is a crucial day for the Delhi Government as it has to keep its promise to finish the cleanup at the much maligned Games Village and hand it over to security.

Although things have turned around quite a bit, a lot of work still remains to be done.

Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell seems to be pleased with what he calls considerable improvement in the Village, but he has made it clear that he does not want the stakeholders to take their foot off the pedal at all.

He has said that all remedial work that has already started needs to continue with greatest urgency.

With most of the teams arriving over the next 48 hours, the envoys of all participating countries are set to pay a visit to the village at 11 am this morning for a final inspection. They are also expected to visit other Games' venues today.

Delhi Mayor Prithviraj Sawhney has told NDTV that one area of concern is the condition of some toilets in the Village

"We are late in that one. It should have been done long back. The cleanliness bit was not concerned with the MCD but only two days back the work was given to us. The toilets etc are still in bad shape," he said.
