In some cases, the photographs of card holders did not appear on the screen while in some cases, the flap barriers did not function properly.

This forced the security personnel to manually check every pass resulting in queue.

These problems were envisaged earlier and security personnel were given instructions on how to handle such situations, a senior police official said.

Chances of technical glitches were also mentioned in the Union Home Ministry's guidelines for spectators asking them to cooperate in such a scenario.

Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal has given specific instructions to his men for carrying out proper searches, frisking and identification of the card holder in case the flap barrier developed glitches.
