Indian officials apologise to 'banned' athlete
New Delhi: Indian officials have admitted mixing up names on a doping list that led to the suspension of an innocent athlete from the country's Commonwealth Games team.

India's National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) on Thursday released a list of athletes who failed drug tests. It included Joginder Kumar, a wrestler in the men's 120-kilogram freestyle event who was due to be picked because Rajiv Tomar, the first-choice wrestler in the class, had already tested positive.

Kumar was suspended. But it later emerged that the Joginder Kumar who failed a routine test was a different athlete.

NADA apologised to freestyle wrestling's Kumar on Saturday. He was subsequently named to the squad.
