Swimming: Kahde reaches 50m butterfly semis, 6 others crash out
New Delhi: Virdhawal Khade made the semifinals of 50m butterfly, even as six other Indian swimmers crashed out in different categories in the Commonwealth Games at the Dr SPM Aquatics Complex in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The para-sport swimmers brought some smiles as Kiran Tak (00:38.79) and Anjani Patel (00:47.64) progressed to semifinals in the 50m S9 Freestyle women category.

Khade recorded a timing of 24.72s for eighth position but his compatriot Arjun Muralidharan could manage 26.37 to stand at 20th position, as the top 16 make it to the next stage.

It was end of road for Jyotsana Pansare and Fariha Zaman in the 100m women backstroke competition.

They managed timings of 1:10.07 and 1:10.38 for the 20th and 21th positions in the heats.

Disappointment was in store for India in the 100m women freestyle as Talasha Satish Prabhu also crashed out at the heat stage after finsihing 26th overall with a timing of 1:00.41.

Aaron D'Souza (1:54.10) and Rohit Havaldar (1:58.15) bowed out of the 200m freestyle men heats.

However, Vineeta Pathak was not lucky as she could manage just 52.58 which was not good enough to move to the next stage.
