Wellington: Injured All Blacks backrower Adam Thomson has withdrawn from the New Zealand rugby sevens team which will be aiming to defend its title at next month's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Thomson sprained medial ligaments in his knee while playing for Otago against Northland in a National Provincial Championship match on Sunday and will be sidelined for up to 10 weeks, Otago medical staff said Monday.
The injury also rules him out of contention for the All Blacks squad for the November tour to Europe.
Thomson's replacement in the New Zealand sevens team has not yet been named.
