Where did our medals come from?
New Delhi: he 19th Commonwealth Games have turned out to be landmark for India in many ways. Not only was it the first time that the Games were held here, the host nation surpassed all expectations to finish 2nd in the medals tally (highest ever position) and also got their highest medal count of 101 in total and 38 Gold medals.

The Gold medals came thick and fast for India. Gagan Narang led the pack with four Gold in different shooting events as the discipline continued to be the top sport as it produced 14 Gold, 11 Silver and 5 Bronze.

In wrestling too India did really well with 10 Gold medals. The impressive was that the women's team too contributed generously to the tally along with the men. Sushil Kumar was off course the star amongst them all.

16-year old Deepika Kumari won the Gold medal in archery and there were 2 other also from the same sport.

But the biggest surprise of them was the 2 Gold medals from athletics. Indian women sweeped the medals in Discus Throw while the women's 4X400 relay team also won the yellow metal.
