New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar area on Sunday morning.

The boy, identified as Durgesh Kumar, was alone at home, since his parents, who work at a factory nearby were away at work, police said.

The minor's family members told police that he had been keeping quiet for the last few days and never told them the reason for his behaviour, they said.

No suicide note was found at the spot but the boy had allegedly sent messages to his friends that he was going to die soon before he hung himself, they added.

Family members told cops that he wasn't keeping well for the last couple of days.

They also told police that they kept knocking at the door but got no response, after which they broke open the door and found him hanging following which police was informed and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Police said that they were probing into what might have led to the suicide.
