Noida:
Thirteen people, most of them employees of a call centre, were injured when a bus fell off the Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) flyover here this evening, police said.
The incident took place 200 metres ahead of the toll plaza on the DND flyover at around 7 pm, Superintendent of Police (Noida City) Amitabh Yash told PTI.
"There were 16 passengers in the bus. Thirteen people suffered injuries," Yash said. Two of the injured are women.
The bus was ferrying staff of a Noida BPO.
Eleven people were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre in the national capital while others were taken to nearby hospitals.
The condition of the driver, Raju Yadav, is critical.
Doctor M Singhal, consultant surgeon at the Trauma Centre, said two persons have spine injuries while the "others are okay but being kept under observation".
Police said the bus stumbled into a pothole after which the driver lost control over speeding vehicle. It rolled down the flyover and fell down after breaking the railing but did not turn turtle.
"Fortunately, it did not turn turtle. Otherwise, it would have been tragic," Yash said.
Traffic was affected on the DND flyover for some time due to the rescue operation.
