A 13-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in southwest Delhi's Inderpuri area, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday. The girl was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, they said.
No suicide note was recovered and an inquest has been initiated into the matter, DCP (southwest) Surender Kumar said.
The girl's mother raised suspicion over possible sexual assault which might have compelled her to take the extreme step. Her body was examined, but reports suggested no such assault, an official said.
During investigation came to light that the girl was reportedly upset over her father not allowing her to play at the nearby park in the evening hours and she had earlier threatened her relatives that she would kill herself, the official said.
