New Delhi: During the firing, the locals raised an alarm and the police were informed.
A case of murder has been registered and investigation is underway, police added.
A cashier and a guard at Delhi's Badarpur toll plaza were shot in broad day light by four men today.
Four people, who reportedly stay near the toll plaza and were preparing for the police services exam, in a robbery attempt shot cashier Mahipal and guard Mohan around 7.30 am and fled with a bag.
The injured were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
The accused, however, mistakenly took away a laptop bag instead of the cash bag.
Preliminary investigation indicates that it was a case of "robbery gone wrong". The two employees were custodians of around Rs 2.50 crore cash collected at the toll plaza over a period, police said.
