New Delhi: Two convicts were found dead inside Delhi's Tihar Jail this morning.
Ritesh, 32, and Amit, 26, were found dead in jail number 8 inside India's largest prison. Ritesh was serving a life sentence for murder, while Amit was serving an eight-year jail term after being convicted of attempted murder.
Other inmates have told jail staff that they saw Ritesh and Amit "sniffing something" last night. Some have alleged that they were on brown sugar.
The two were unwell this morning and were taken to hospital, where they died. Their bodies have been sent for autopsy.
With this incident, three inmates have now died in Tihar Jail in the last 3 days. In 2014, a total of 25 inmates had died in the facility.
