A 20-year-old youth was arrested for confining and raping a teenager in Delhi, police said on Monday.
Lalit Kumar, who hails from Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad city, fled with a 15-year-old girl after convincing her that he was in love with her, police said.
The girl, a class 8 student and resident of Kotla Mubarakpur in south Delhi, went with him to get married. However, Lalit Kumar confined her in a room in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and raped her, police said.
The girl's family reported a kidnapping complaint on August 20. Police found that she was last seen with Lalit, who supplies medicines to chemist shops in south Delhi. "We rescued the girl on August 23 but Lalit Kumar fled from the spot," said a police officer.
Police arrested Lalit from Moradabad on Saturday night. He was on Monday sent to jail.
