New Delhi: Twenty one new cases of swine flu were reported on Saturday in the national capital, taking the total number of people affected by the virus to 3,438 so far this year while the toll still stands at 10.
The deadly disease on Saturday claimed the life of Jitendra Raghvanshi, a theatre personality and former HoD of foreign languages department of Agra University at Safdarjung
hospital.
"His death, however, will not be counted in Delhi's figure for deaths due to the disease," the Health department officials said.
"As he hails from Agra, his death will not be counted in the death figure for Delhi despite he succumbing to H1N1 influenza virus at a hospital here," said Charan Singh, Additional Director in-charge of Public Health, Health department.
"A total of 143 people were tested for the H1N1 influenza virus of which 21 turned positive. No fresh death has been reported today," he said.
However, officials claimed that the number of cases have started to go down over the last few days.
