A 22-year-old interior decorator was found dead in mysterious circumstances in her house in Shakarpur in east Delhi, police said today.
The incident was reported at around 5:30 a.m..
"Payal Durga, who lived with her husband and parents-in-law at Bank Enclave in Shakarpur, east Delhi, was found dead," a police officer said.
Police said the woman's husband, who runs a furniture business, informed her father that she had committed suicide by hanging herself.
No suicide note was recovered from the site, a police officer said, adding that Payal's parents said that her in-laws had made exorbitant dowry demands.
Payal and Gaurav were married in February this year.
A case has been registered by Shakarpur police, and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
