New Delhi:
A 23-year-old married woman was allegedly gang-raped and robbed at gunpoint by three men in a moving car in south-west Delhi's Dwarka area on Wednesday night, police said.
According to the police, the woman had gone to a club at a mall in Gurgaon on Wednesday night and was waiting to get a lift to return home. Four unidentified men in a car stopped and offered to drop her home and she accepted it, police said.
"Once inside the car, the woman was allegedly raped by the three of the four men on gunpoint. They also robbed of Rs 5,000 from her before dumping her at an isolated place. The accused also threatened her of dire consequences if she dared to report the incident," said a police official quoting the woman's statement.
Once the assailants left, she called the police after which she was taken to the hospital where medical examination confirmed sexual assault.
Police recorded her statement and a case under relevant sections was registered at Dwarka Sector-23 police station.
The 23-year-old also told the police that the accused had stopped at a CNG pump to get gas for their car.
Investigators have obtained the CCTV footages of the petrol station and of other installments on the route to identify the accused men and their car.
Sketches, on the basis of description given by the woman, are also being prepared. "We have formed several teams to identify the culprits and we are confident that they will be arrested soon," said a senior police official.
