New Delhi:
A 24-year-old man from Manipur is in critical condition after he was stabbed by some unidentified men in South Delhi's Saket area early this morning.
He is the third person from the North-East to be attacked in the capital in the last two weeks. According to the police, he was returning from work around 4 am when some men snatched his mobile and then stabbed him in the stomach.
"Prima facie it seems to be a case of robbery. The men tried to snatch his mobile and when he resisted, they stabbed him and fled from the spot," a police official told PTI.
On Sunday night, two boys Manipur were allegedly beaten with sticks at a south Delhi neighbourhood. The incident happened less than two weeks after the death of Nido Tania in what his friends described as a racist attack. Nido's post-mortem report says he died of severe lung and brain injuries from an attack inflicted upon him in a South Delhi market.
The incidents have led to a national debate on discrimination against Indians from the North East.
