New Delhi: Three illegal arms suppliers of an interstate gang were arrested here on Thursday and 18 sophisticated pistols recovered from them, police said.

Shiv Singh, 25, Mangal Singh, 24, and Ravi, 20, all hailing from Rajasthan's Dholpur district, were arrested near the Yamuna bank in Usmanpur area when they reached there in an SUV to supply a consignment of arms.

"Total 18 high quality pistols along with eight live cartridges of 32 bore have been recovered," said Deputy Commissioner of Police P.S. Kushwah.

They used to hide the pistols in a cavity beneath the rear head light of the SUV, which belongs to Shiv Singh, he added.

"During interrogation, they revealed that they have been supplying illegal arms since the last five years. They have supplied around 600 pistols in Delhi. Shiv Singh was earlier arrested in several Arms Act cases."

Kushwah said that they procured these arms from Fauzi in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh for Rs 6,000 each and would sell them for Rs 20,000 and above, Kushwah said.

"Shiv Singh had drawn in his village residents, Mangal and Ravi, in the nefarious trade. Mangal and Ravi have enmity with some village locals whom they were planning to eliminate.

"Mangal and Ravi are labourers, while Shiv Singh works as a driver," the officer added.
