Stepping up efforts to prevent black marketing of train tickets during the festive season, Northern Railway has apprehended 52 touts involved in unlawful ticketing activities.
The touts have been handed over to RPF for prosecution, a senior Northern Railway official said in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In order to tackle the festival rush, Northern Railway has chalked out an action plan to ensure smooth functioning of reservation counters, complaint-free passenger amenities and to check malpractices in reservation offices.
Preventive checks were conducted during the special drive by Vigilance Department of Northern Railway lead by the senior officers of Vigilance, Commercial Department and RPF at mass contact areas at booking centres, platforms, trains and reservation counters at various locations, he said.
The Northern Railway appealed to the general public not to patronise touts and unauthorised ticketing agencies and buy tickets from railway reservation centres and authorised travel agents.
