55-year-old man shot dead outside his house

New Delhi: A 55-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside his home in Kanjhawala area of outer Delhi last evening, police said today.

The deceased has been identified as Baljeet who was sitting near his house when he was attacked by the assailants who came on a bike, fired at him and fled from the scene.

"Hearing the gunshot, the family members of the deceased came out only to find him lying in a pool of blood. He had a bullet injury in his waist. Baljeet was taken to a nearby government hospital where he was declared brought dead," said a police official.

"Baljeet was a fourth grade employee in a government hospital. We have learnt that he was having property dispute with a man who lives in the same area. We are probing the case
from all possible angles," the official said.

The police has recorded the statements of the family members of the deceased and filed a First Information Report (FIR) under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

However, no arrests have been made so far in the case.
