New Delhi: A 74-year-old woman was on Saturday strangled in her house in Delhi, allegedly by suspected robbers.
The woman was reportedly alone at her seventh floor home in North Delhi's Rohini. When her husband returned after a walk, he found the lock of the main door broken and articles in living room scattered. He discovered his wife's body in the bedroom. She had suffered head injuries, a shawl was tied around her neck.
Her husband suspects a man who came to their house two days ago to fix the AC could be behind the attack. "Two days ago my wife told me a man came to fix the AC but escaped soon after she called her son to check if he had asked a technician to visit their home," he said.
Neighbours say the three exit gates in the apartment complex are guarded round-the-clock and allege the suspect could be someone who routinely visits the society.
Amrit Jain, a resident of the apartments for 23 years says, "Even though we have deployed guards, we aren't sure how secure we are. We will definitely be more cautious henceforth."
The police are looking at CCTV footage of the complex and are investigating the matter. So far, nobody has been arrested.
