New Delhi: A nine-year-old girl died under mysterious circumstances after her house was robbed in south Delhi's Jaitpur on Wednesday evening.
A senior police official said that the girl, identified as Gul Afza, was not murdered by the armed robbers. She had got scared when the robbers struck at her house and fainted. She was taken to Holy Family hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Gul lived with her parents and two brothers. Her father, a carpenter, was not at home when the incident took place. "She and her brothers were playing inside the house when three people carrying sharp weapons entered in the house.
They threatened them of dire consequences and looted Rs 8,000 in cash, a gold ring and a pair of gold earrings. The robbers then fled threatening them again. The girl was shivering and fell unconscious," said a police official.
Few minutes after the robbers fled, her brothers called the neighbours and narrated the incident. A post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow. added. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
