New Delhi: On the last day of filing of nominations for the Delhi election, the Aam Aadmi Party replaced two of its candidates, sparking protests outside party chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
"Complaints were received against them," Mr Kejriwal said.
Govardhan Singh, who was contesting from Mehrauli, and Rajinder Dabas, contesting from Mundka, have been replaced by two new candidates.
An AAP statement said, the decision was taken "following an inquiry by the party's internal Lokpal." Sources say AAP leader Prashant Bhushan had objected to their candidature.
Mr Kejriwal alleged that Govardhan Singh had campaigned for the BJP and "took 10 buses to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally" at Ramlila Maidan in the heart of Delhi last week.
The second candidate was dropped because of allegations that he 'bought' his ticket to contest the polls, the AAP chief said.
Govardhan Singh said he was completely taken aback at being dropped at the last minute.
"I have been campaigning for 15 days. Arvind Kejriwal pushed me to contest. People are supporting me. But last night I was told that I would not be a candidate anymore," he said, pointing to a campaign poster with his image alongside Mr Kejriwal.
Mr Singh alleged that AAP leaders had offered him a party post instead.
