Commando Surender Singh is the third AAP lawmaker to be arrested in the last three months

Commando Surender Singh, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker, has been arrested by the Delhi Police this evening, he is accused of beating up and making casteist remarks against a government employee earlier this month, the arrest was imminent after a Delhi Court denied him anticipatory bail on August 12.
"The MLA has been arrested for assaulting a public servant and stopping him from discharging his duty and sections of SC/ST Act. He was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for medical examination," said a senior Delhi Police official.
The former NSG Commando and two others had allegedly beaten and manhandled a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) employee, who was a part of the team that was doing a routine encroachment check in central Delhi on August 4.
According to police officials, "Sanitary Inspector R J Meena had complained to police alleging that beldar Mukesh was beaten and manhandled by Surender Singh when the team had apprehended an e-rickshaw driver to check his documents."
Criticising the arrest, senior AAP leader, Ashutosh tweeted, "Modi government protects corrupts of CNG Fitness scam and arrests patriot commando Surender who faced bullets of terrorists during 26/11 attack".
Mr Singh is the third AAP lawmaker to be arrested in the last three months. Earlier in June, former Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar was arrested in a fake educational degree case, while Manoj Kumar was arrested in case of alleged cheating and land- grabbing, in July.
