Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Rakhi Birla got a unique birthday gift on Friday - she was elected the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi assembly.
The proposal to make Ms Birla the Deputy Speaker was made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The house, dominated by the AAP, backed the proposal by voice vote.
Ms Birla succeeds Bandana Kumari, also of the AAP who resigned last week.
