Satyendar Jain appeared before I-T officials over summons regarding his alleged role in 3 firms.
New Delhi:
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain today appeared before income tax authorities in response to summons regarding his alleged role in three companies in which he had invested and called the whole affair "politically motivated".
"I was summoned only because they want to defame me. I have no role in these companies for the last three years. There was no reason to summon me," he said.
"There was no interrogation, I was called as a witness," Mr Jain added.
Mr Jain said he was questioned about people he had never met or talked to before.
"The whole conspiracy is politically motivated and is based on lies," he said.
Mr Jain said it was strange that same questions put to him by Income Tax Department authorities were flashed on some TV channels.
"...if these questions were given to the income tax officials by these channels or if the department leaked these questions to the media," the Aam Aadmi Party leader quipped.
