New Delhi: A 28-year-old researcher from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was allegedly beaten up by a motorist who rammed his car into the victim's vehicle in South Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

Faraz ul-Hasan was beaten up on Monday in New Friends Colony around 9 a.m. He received injuries on the head and other parts of his body, police said.

"The victim was going towards AIIMS when an unidentified man driving his car rashly rammed it into the victim's car," said police.

The researcher said in his police complaint that after the accident, he tried to speak with the accused but he refused to come out of his vehicle.

The victim alleged that the accused hit him with an iron lock. However, passerby intervened and the victim called up the police.

The police added that the accused could not be apprehended as he ran away.
