Armed Robbers Loot Jewellery Worth Rs 1.5 Crore In Delhi

New Delhi: Two armed robbers robbed a jewellery showroom in New Delhi on Tuesday and took away jewellery above Rs 1 crore, police said.

The broad daylight robbery occured in Shahi jewellers located in Sector 17, Rohini in north Delhi around 1.30 pm.

"Two youth arrived in the shop on the pretext of buying a gold ring, then one of them went out while talking on his phone and then again entered the shop after few minutes with a weapon," a police officer told IANS.

"He then took all the three staff of the showroom hostage, one of whom was the son of the businessman, and the duo then fled with the jewellery items worth Rs 1 to 1.5 crore," the officer said.

"They fled away from the spot in their car," the officer said, adding, "We are looking for CCTV footage of the area as the cameras placed in the showroom were not operational."

A case has been registered and investigation is on, police said.
