Arvind Kejriwal Says Raids At His Office Only To Save Arun Jaitley: Highlights

Mr Kejriwal had yesterday said that he and his party will not be deterred by the lawsuits, and continued to further attack the Finance Minister.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today attacked the Modi government in the Delhi Assembly after defamation lawsuits were filed against him and other AAP leaders by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over party's allegations of corruption in the Delhi cricket body which Mr Jaitley headed for 13 years. Mr Kejriwal said that PM Modi was misusing the CBI to destroy the opposition.

Here are the highlights from his address.
  •  We asked PM Modi for cooperation. We said that we'll make your 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan' successful in Delhi. But he said nothing.
  •  The BJP government has not been cooperating, but what they did on December 15 was unprecedented.
  •  When I was leaving for office in the morning, I got calls that my office has been raided by the CBI. I couldn't believe it.
  •  The CBI later said that the raids were conducted at Kejriwal's principal secretary.
  •  At least even the BJP government knows that Kejriwal is honest. Maligning his reputation will bring shame on to them.
  •  It's the 8th day today, after hours of interrogation and many raids, I want to ask the honorable prime minister, what did they find?
  •  The man earns 1-2 lakhs a month and the 27 lakhs found on him during the raids were accounted for.
  •  Today, the BJP has raided my office, tomorrow they can raid the offices of Chief Ministers of Assam, West Bengal or Maharashtra.
  •  The Gujarat model is to buy the Opposition or destroy them.
  •  What does the PM even have to do with the people of this country? He's mostly travelling to different countries on a big jet plane. And whenever he is here, he misuses the CBI.
  •  If the Delhi cricket body, the DDCA does anything wrong with the use of water, electricity or development of stadiums in the state, the house has the power to intervene.
  •  We have formed the commission of inquiry to find wrongdoings by the cricket body. If Arun Jaitley, who headed the DDCA for 13 years, is innocent, he must prove it in front of the commission.
  •  BJP ministers in the Parliament stood up and said that Mr Jaitley is innocent. Just like that, tomorrow A Raja will bring his four ministers and say he is innocent. This country has some law and order and it must be followed.
  •  Some TV channels have been saying, 'Has Mr Kejriwal changed? That he was routing for CBI to be independent'. We are still saying the CBI must be independent. But the day it is independent, it will not raid Rajender Kumar, it will raid offices of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje. The government should stop thinking of us as fools.
