New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today asked all its MLAs to keep checking their constituencies on availability of medicines, testing kits and cleanliness in hospitals as the city faces its worst Dengue crisis in 5 Years.
In a meeting called by Mr Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia at his Civil Lines residence, the chief minister also directed all 21 MLAs, who are attached to the managing committee of the hospitals, to visit there on a daily basis and keep checking for vacant spaces where additional patients could be accommodated.
"The chief minister briefed the MLAs on the dos and dont's of dengue. He asked the them to keep checking in their constituencies on the availability of medicines, testing kits and cleanliness in the hospitals," the Aam Aadmi Party said.
The MLAs have also been asked to deal with the fear of dengue that has gripped people after number of cases mounted to over 2,000 and death toll reached 17.
"We have been asked to visit the JJ clusters and see whether there are dengue patients are not. If there are, then we are supposed to ensure their proper treatment. People are currently living under fear psychosis, so we are supposed to make them aware of the disease and ask them to consume more water. We have also been asked to ensure proper fogging is done in the area," said an MLA who attended the meet.
The party had yesterday announced that it would press into action private practitioners to deal with the dengue problem and open free fever clinics across the city.
Apart from it, they have asked its volunteers to visit household and make people aware of dengue. In case if they find a dengue patient, they will report it to the local malaria inspector and ensure fogging in the area.
