New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today directed officials of all government departments to submit by Friday evening their updated guidelines for the effective implementation of the Citizens' Charter, a statement said.
Attending a meeting of the heads of departments, the Chief Minister said that the Citizens' Charter was an important and essential component to ensure time-bound delivery of government services to the public.
Mr Kejriwal instructed the officials that once the departments submitted their lists for implementation of the Citizens Charter, they would have to be treated as sacrosanct, the statement said.
It added that penalties would be imposed on officials concerned in case of failure to deliver on promises made in the departmental charters.
Departments were advised to only make promises which they could deliver on in a time-bound manner so that the public is not misled.
