Arvind Kejriwal has hit out at CBI for 'summoning' his officials
New Delhi:
Arvind Kejriwal shot off a furious tweet this morning quoting a newspaper report that said that his staff had been summoned "informally" by the Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI.
The Chief Minister has been bristling since the CBI searched his office at the Delhi Secretariat in December in raids targeting his Principal Secretary Rajendra Singh.
"CBI summons Delhi CM's staff 'informally' on phone without notice. Staff of other ministers called earlier like this," Mr Kejriwal tweeted, signaling another conflict with the Centre, which oversees the CBI.
The newspaper report said the CBI had telephoned the Chief Minister's staff directly and asked them to come for questioning today. The report quoted officials to say Mr Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia were upset that some 200 employees had been summoned without proper notice.
Reacting to Mr Kejriwal's tweet, CBI sources said only Rajendra Singh's staff had been called for questioning. "This is an ongoing investigation and people can be called for questioning," an official said.
In December, an incensed Mr Kejriwal called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "coward and a psychopath" after CBI raids at his office.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that the Centre was using the CBI to cover up a corruption scandal in the Delhi cricket body, which was headed by Arun Jaitley for 13 years in the past.
