New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said Chief Justice TS Thakur's support to the decision to allow even and odd number cars to ply in Delhi on alternative days from January 1.
"(His) support to odd-even formula is welcome and a huge encouragement," Mr Kejriwal tweeted. "Supreme Court judges pooling cars would inspire millions to follow. Thank you My Lords."
Earlier, Justice Thakur, who became the chief justice three days ago, welcomed the "even-odd car system" and said he saw no problem with it.
He urged Supreme Court judges to go for car-pooling, saying this would give a right message to the public.
On Saturday, Mr Kejriwal said he had been rushed into this decision because of judicial intervention, and that the restrictions on cars would tried for 10 to 15 days to see if it can succeed.
