Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with North-Eastern students protesting Nido Tania's death
New Delhi:
BJP today slammed
Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi government over the rape of a minor Manipuri girl in the city just days after the death of a 20-year-old man from North-East in an alleged racial attack, saying it was only making empty promises and that nothing was being done to enhance their safety.
"Delhi government is making empty promises to people from North-East and doing nothing on ground to enhance their safety. It appears there is no law and order in the state. The Centre and Delhi government are busy fighting with each other, with neither of them having time or inclination to ensure safety of an average Delhiite," BJP Delhi unit chief Vijay Goel said here.
He further said that everyone is witnessing how the people from northeast were feeling harassed in the city.
"Women are feeling increasingly unsafe. But CM and his ministerial colleagues have no time for such an important matter. What has AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government done to check this spurt in crime ?" he asked.
"No one is concerned about governance in the city. The Congress-AAP alliance has pushed the city into a state of anarchy. It is strange that while on one hand Congress is criticising AAP and on the other it is supporting it. Why doesn't it withdraw the support from AAP?" he said.
A 14-year-old girl from Manipur was allegedly raped by her landlord's son in Munirka area yesterday, sparking off protests in the national capital.
The incident has come close to the heels of the death of Nido Tania, a youth from Arunachal Pradesh who died after being allegedly beaten by some shopkeepers following a quarrel over comments on his hairstyle.
