Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is speaking on the strike called by sanitation workers' in Delhi.

Here are the highlights:

  • Misconception that we did not pay salaries
  • All Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools, hospitals are closed and garbage is all over the city
  • The Public Works Department (PWD) helped us clean the garbage to some extent. I thank them all.
  • Our ministers, workers and all departments are trying to clean the garbage
  • An environment is being created as if the Delhi government is not paying the money to the MCD
  • The Delhi government does not have any outstanding dues of the MCD
  • In 2012-13, the NDMC got Rs 526 crores, it got Rs 556 crores the next year, and Rs 545 crores the year after that.
  • This year they got 893 crores.
  • An additional 100 crores were given by the government to the NDMC. Where has the money gone?
  • The EDMC loan recovery of Rs 76 crores by the Centre, we didn't make any recovery.
  • This is a big scam. Where is the money going?
  • This should be investigated
  • Section 486 of the Delhi Municipal Act gives power to the Delhi government to check accounts
  • They did not let us do it.Why are they scared?
  • Centre can get a Central Bureau of Investigation probe done. We are not scared.
  • Why are you scared of a probe?
