Arvind Kejriwal, a film buff, is often heard singing at public meetings.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wishes for the 72nd Independence Day were accompanied by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief's rendition of "Hum honge kamyab (we shall overcome)" at Chhatrasal Stadium.
The Hindi version, which was translated by poet Girija Kumar Mathur, is an adaptation of "We Shall Overcome", a song of strength. The chief minister also tweeted a couplet from Urdu poet Muhammad Iqbal's "Sare Jahan Se Acha".
This is not the first time the AAP leader, a film buff, has sung at a public event. In 2013, he sang a song from the 1995 film "Paigham" during his swearing-in ceremony.
A video of Mr Kejriwal singing Kishore Kumar's Aa Chal Ke Tujhe Main Leke Chaloon from the 1964 film Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein went viral two years ago.
The video was put out by now estranged AAP member Kumar Vishwas as part of the AAP's campaign against former Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal.
