Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal speaks on the farmer suicide at AAP rally in an interview to ANI.

Here are the highlights:
  • I had never experienced anything like that.
  • When we were on stage, the tree was at a distance. There were banners on the tree, couldn't see clearly from stage.
  • We heard about some 'gadbad' on the tree. Gradually we found out that some man was trying to attempt suicide.
  • There were some volunteers, cops under the tree.. but no one thought he would actually commit suicide.
  • If we had any inkling that he would do something like that, someone would have definitely acted. When he was brought down, we heard he is alive, he was taken to hospital.
  • I started speaking, but didn't feel like it. But instead of one hour, spoke only for 10 minutes.
  • I think I was wrong, shouldn't have spoken. I didn't think of it that time. If anyone's sentiments were hurt, I apologise.
  • We have to think why farmers are committing suicide. This natak going on from the past 2-3 days is not right.
  • If we as a country decide that farmers' land will not be snatched, they will be given proper price for crop. Farmers won't commit suicide.
  • We were all trying to get him to come down. If you get TRPs because of this, then keep talking about this. The incident happened in front of me. I didn't sleep all night. I can't get over it.
  • I have said what I had to do. You draw whatever conclusion you want to. I appeal to you, stop dissecting this issue
  • Let's say I am to be blamed for the incident. Well then I accept it's my mistake. Now can we talk about the farmers' interest.
