New Delhi:
A 21-year-old BA student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a college in north-west Delhi this afternoon with his family alleging that he was murdered and hanged by the family of girl with whom he had a relationship.
Mohd Amir Malik, a resident of Khajuri Khas and a second year degree student, was found hanging by his friends in room no 207 of Satyawati College in Ashok Vihar at around 3 PM, a senior police official said.
"He was found hanging from a fan on a plastic rope in the room. He is a student of morning shift," the official said.
Pankaj, a friend of the victim, informed Malik's father Nasir Ahmed that he was found hanging following which he informed the police and requested them not to bring down the body before they reached the spot.
"The body was brought down at around 6:15 pm," the official said.
The family alleged he was murdered and hanged by the family of a girl with whom he had a relationship.
"Earlier, the girl's family had filed a complaint against my son. But later police dropped it after the girl gave a statement in favour of my son," Ahmad alleged.
After this, he alleged, the girl's family had threatened them to murder his son.
The official said if the family has any doubts, they should approach police with a complaint.
Some family members also indulged in protest when media persons were not allowed inside the college campus.
